76th Independence Day Ceremony & Book Launch
Sri Lanka celebrated its 76th Independence Day on Sunday, February 4th, 2024, with a special ceremony and book launch held at Maryam Girls' College in Colombo 02, organized by KIEC Ahadhiyyah School from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.The event had notable guests: Al-Haj A.S. Abdul Hameed, a retired Work Superintendent from the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, as the Chief Guest, and Samasri Al-Haj A.H.M Aarif, a Justice Of Peace representing the Whole Island, as the Guest of Honour.
The highlight of the ceremony was the launch of "Marakkala Kolama," a book written by Mr. Fawaz Salahudeen, a distinguished senior teacher. This book delves into Sri Lankan Muslim history and highlights the significant contributions of the Muslim community towards the growth and development of Sri Lanka.
"Marakkala Kolama" is particularly relevant to GCE Advanced Level (AL) students studying Islamic Civilization as it provides valuable insights into the rich Islamic heritage of Sri Lanka. The book is designed to supplement their learning and deepen their understanding of the historical and cultural aspects of Sri Lankan Muslims.
The celebration was marked by a deep sense of pride among Sri Lankan Muslims, who joyously participated in honoring their country's independence. The event resonated with a shared sentiment of unity and patriotism as people from all walks of life came together to celebrate the nation's progress and achievements.
